Throughout the book of Jeremiah, places and people are targeted by God for blessings and cursings - mostly the latter. After a long book of that, we are able to leave Jeremiah - and begin reading Lamentations!! And - surprise!! - it apparently was written through Jeremiah!!
And we find this to start:
Lamentations 1:1-2:
"1 Jerusalem, once so crowded,
lies deserted and lonely.
This city that was known
all over the world
is now like a widow.
This queen of the nations
has been made a slave.
2 Each night, bitter tears
flood her cheeks.
None of her former lovers
are there to offer comfort;
her friends[a] have betrayed her
and are now her enemies."
Jeremiah was, after all, a prophet. They're kinda somber, some reluctantly offering God's word. Some prophecy is very specific - time, place, people. Just as this passage is about Jerusalem and God's people. Even so, there may be usable parallels. Can you think of any? Then, pray!
I've been reading along on my tv the youtube free audio King James Bible. Sometimes I go through an entire book even if 3 hours long - because I can! Other times, I split it up into 2 nights. I "subscribed" (free) so I can find the books easier each time. Here is the book of Genesis https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oM6rec6pB8Q
