This sums up Sasse well. He is rather critical of both sides, and he is rather respected by both sides. He stands in the face of stiff opposition without flinching, and yet he keeps working. He was a major reason ACB was selected for SCOTUS, and he understands conservatism and civics. And yet, ultimately, they were the ones who moved things forward.

Today, when people question consensus -- regardless of their evidence and their experience -- they're blacklisted.

Their careers are ended.

Their funding dries up.

They're kicked off social media and now allowed to speak.

Same story, different generation.
