I just responded to someone on Facebook who said that we can't hold the Democrat's past racism against them because all the racists left that party in the 1960s and became Republicans. Here was my answer, for your further research:
The 'major switch' claim isn't true. I went through and cataloged every single US representative, and every single US senator, and every governor, from about 1950 and tracked which ones switched parties through about the mid 1970s, and how many. Almost every Democrat who was a Democrat remained a Democrat their entire careers, and vice versa. Out of the more than a thousand politicians, only about 50 switched.
This info is public knowledge to anyone who wants to do the work to test the hypothesis. I would suggest starting with the people who signed the Southern Manifesto, noting their party, and then cataloging which of THEM and how many switched. (The SM being the most visible subset; if the hypothesis does not stand with the SM, its not likely to stand with the whole set.)
Some other explanation must be the case, because the POLITICIANS didn't switch.
Hillsdale College threw down when they were pressured to make a statement in support of BLM. Worth a read just for the masterful wordsmithing, but even more so for the message of those words.

When I talk about 'the end of America' I include considerations such as in this link. I ask myself things like, "Could America survive an incident like this?" "What kind of America would it be?" And so on. It isn't a scientific calculation by any means, but to me the evidence suggests the country would fracture into little parts and very likely never re-assemble if this happened: https://www.washingtonexaminer.....com/washington-secr
This isn't totally confirmed as yet, but some Atlanta PD officers may have walked off the job mid-shift or stopped responding to callouts in the wake of the charges against Garrett Rolfe.
Thankfully, I haven't seen "#defundthepolice" or "abolish the police," in my news feed. (probably because I only have five or six friends here, hehe)
I have consistently, and will consistently support the men and women of blue who serve and protect. Like anything else, and like everyone else, law enforcement men and women included, I (we) won't support or defend those who are corrupt. That should be obvious. It's a similar story for the men and women who serve and have served the country honorable. Scripture says that there is no greater love than to die for your brother/sister...more so, the willingness to die for those who themselves do not support your efforts.
As we were enemies of Christ, Christ still loved and loves us. I therefore, will not support '#defundthepolice," but instead will
#defendthepolice
By this I mean, I will support and defend the men and women who sacrificially and honorably (of which there are hundreds of thousands,) serve and protect, me, and you.
More potential context for part of a discussion I was having with some friends earlier this week Also, a new tidbit about George Floyd. Sounds like he was a Christian, and maybe even Lutheran.
Also, this is the first I'm hearing about Concordia, Selma being closed in 2018. Way to go Concordia University System. Keep Concordia Irvine, which is sitting on land worth millions and let the only Lutheran HBCU go under? Not a good move.
