Amos. A shepherd of Tekoa called to be a prophet of the God of Isra'el,- Amos writes of God's judgment on Isra'el for most of the book. If I had been an Isra'elite while Amos spoke, I would have been discouraged. Even so, Amos finishes writing what the same God inspired in Amos 9:14-15 (1599 Geneva Bible, modified English):
"14 And I will bring again the captivity of my people of Israel: and they shall build the waste cities, and inhabit them, and they shall plant vineyards, and drink the wine thereof: they shall also make gardens, and eat the fruits of them.
15 And I will plant them upon their land, and they shall no more be pulled up again out of their land which I have given them, saith the Lord thy God."
Since God has called the Gentiles and the Jews, this prophecy bodes well for both! Are you ready for unity?
