The book is called Lamentations for a reason. Jeremiah writes of life's disappointments for Israel and other countries - dirges to destruction, defeat and death. So - what can we see that is helpful in Lamentations?
God's promises through Lamentations include:
Lamentations 3:21-26 -
"21 Yet this I call to mind
and therefore I have hope:
22 Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed,
for his compassions never fail.
23 They are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness.
24 I say to myself, “The Lord is my portion;
therefore I will wait for him.”
25 The Lord is good to those whose hope is in him,
to the one who seeks him;
26 it is good to wait quietly
for the salvation of the Lord."
Isaiah 40:31 suggests that Jeremiah, writing Lamentations, may have had the same inspiration as Isaiah - hmmm...
"31 But they that wait upon the Lord, shall renew their strength: they shall lift up the wings, as the eagles: they shall run, and not be weary, and they shall walk and not faint."
Waiting is good - and doing is good! Work while it is still called "day"!!
