So, in other news, we have the near-universal polling that led credence to the view that a genuine 'red wave' was coming, especially as it got closer to the election. Either... there was still rampant cheating... totally plausible... or, we now need to officially kiss off polling altogether as completely useless.

To be fair, when you looked close at polls, eg, at RCP, the margins of victory for the GOP were not usually that great. The 'Wave' was anticipated because of the large quantity that showed GOP candidates with (slim) victory margins. However, here in WI, the Repub was favored to win by polls, and still lost. (Allegedly.)

Still, polling has been on the ropes for a long time. I think we just have to conclude now that they are meaningless.

I was ballot 970. By the time I got to the machine, my ballot was ballot 830ish. They explained the difference (I asked) by telling me about absentee ballots hadn't been counted yet, etc.

Polling is subjective - not objective. And the subjectivity is not only delivered by the polling agents, but also by the methodology masters and the public's own bias. Polls could be accurate when given in a specific place but extrapolation is then the largest source of bias.

That may very well be (they "could be accurate" but I don't know how any of us are ever going to be able to assess them well enough for it to be worth our time. The theoretical possibility that some might be accurate.... occasionally... doesn't leave me inclined to give any of them much weight.
