I've never been sold on that definition of the Nephilim. I believe it means, "they came down", which has a different sense. The passage that links them to the Genesis passage has weird grammar. The negative view of the Nephilim seems to come mostly from the Book of Enoch, which is definitely very interesting, but I just don't know how much weight to give it, if any.

I'm pulling from memories of research from 15 years ago, so don't hold me too tightly to my comments.
