In 2018, the U.S. spent nearly $500 billion on means-tested cash, food, housing, and medical care for poor and low-income families with children. This is seven times the amount needed to eliminate all child poverty in the U.S., according to Census figures. However, we still have poverty. Why? Money is not the issue. Most ignore that the greatest problem in poverty is what experts call behavior poverty. To some, every issue looks like a money problem resulting in using the same old hammer on different problems. However, what is needed is a focus on families, religion, and individuals. Poverty won't be won by throwing money at the problem. Poverty will be solved when families are healthy and vibrant and churches are faithfully preaching God's word.
