again, the COLLAPSE IS COMING. There is no avoiding it. However, a nice side benefit would be to have it happen on the watch of those whose ideologies line up with creating collapses (ie, the progressives, the democrats, etc) and then let republicans, whose ideology on paper at least should prevent them, swoop in for a proper rebuilding, with everyone blaming the dems. It would probably take a collapse for repubs to get their heads out of their hindeys to draw up the courage to rebuild on their own principles. So don't fight it. Just shake your head sadly and prepare for the end.

I would agree that it would take a massive implosion in the economy to have any hope of shaking people out of their socialist beliefs, except we’ve already seen several instances of where people have seen the failures of their ideologies occur before their very eyes, and they still don’t change their beliefs on any fundamental level. Nothing exemplifies that more than the collapse of the justice system in Blue States by Democrats, yet we seen no local movement to turn away from progressivism as much as “moderate” it, and more often than not those Dems who sound “reasonable” during the campaign, do actually little against the liberal policies once in office.

If a collapse has any chance of serving as an object lesson, then it will have to be a long and consistent one that can’t be quickly dismissed. But even then I’m not hopeful, when we’ve got a media and groups that have worked for generations to undermine the principles of this nation, ready to point fingers at those principles as the cause of the problems.

I think the manufactured crisis is positioned for a relatively sudden collapse. If this is true, then we can be sure there is a plan to manage the people. Again, it will happen "overnight" (so to speak).
On the other hand, Chinese culture tends to view change over generations - I believe the way of the West will prevail.
