John 12:42-43 - "42 Nevertheless many even of the rulers believed in Him, but because of the Pharisees they were not confessing Him, for fear that they would be put out of the synagogue; 43 for they loved the approval of men rather than the approval of God."
There is a "belief" that is not validated by faith in obedience - as James wrote "...even the demons believe...." And this passage includes "approval" as the translation of "doxa" (Greek) which is often translated 'glory', 'honour', 'praise' or even 'worship'. When people seek their own glory or the glory of other people they do not seek the glory of God. Who is Jesus? That is the question.
