GOING HOME BLESSED

Darvin Puritt

Two men came to Gods house to worship. One trusted in himself that he was righteous and despised others. His time was geared to think on himself, his accomplishments, and his sacrifices. He looked on the other man and thanked God he wasn't like him. He saw himself head and shoulders above other men. He prayed with himself but went away believing he talked with God. He bragged on himself and went away believing it was worship. He came in comfortable and left the same way.

The other man was a publican. He was a vile sinner and he knew it. He came confessing his sins, fearing God, and looking for mercy. This man went home justified. This man went home blessed beyond his wildest expectations. This man went home with a renewed vision of the glory of God in Christ.

These two men are representative of all who profess faith in God and enter into His house to worship. These two men testify of the attitude of both the saved and the lost. These two men show the results of true and false religion. They both went to church: One came to Christ.

They both prayed; one with himself and the other with God. They both went away feeling better: One went away blessed. Where do YOU fit into this picture?
