The book called Daniel is full of evidences of the hand of God. Literally. King Nebuchadnezzar is deposed - by God - and his son, Belshazzar, is now King. Belshazzar orders the Jerusalem temple goblets be brought for drinking and display - for the King, his nobles, his wives and his concubines. Apparently, God noticed.
Daniel 5:5 - "5 At the same hour appeared fingers of a man’s hand, which wrote over against the candlestick upon the plaster of the wall of the king’s palace, and the king saw the palm of the hand that wrote."
Once again, Daniel is called to interpret an event for the King. He does. Belshazzar is found wanting - by God.
Daniel 5:23 - "...they have brought the vessels of his House before thee, and thou and thy princes, thy wives and thy concubines have drunk wine in them, and thou hast praised the gods of silver and gold, of brass, iron, wood and stone...."
After that, Belshazzar was killed. Darius became King. I wonder how Daniel felt when he was again raised up in the kingdom for telling the King what God has said.
Peaks and valleys - the cycle of life. All through this, Daniel kept his faith - his integrity - his relationship with God. His reward? He was still a captive of the Babylonians. He was still a man of God, used of God. How may I emulate him no matter the circumstances?
