Passion Week Day 6
Today, we begin with Thursday, April 2 AD 33. It is a busy day as the Passover meal would be shared this evening. This would be Jesus’s last Passover meal here on earth. According to Jewish reckoning, a new day began at nightfall. So, the events before the meal would have occurred between Wednesday nightfall to Thursday nightfall on Nisan 14. While the meal would have been shared Thursday nightfall (which the Jews would have considered a new day Nisan 15). The meal consisted of roasted lamb, bitter herbs, unleavened bread, fruit sauce, and four cups of wine. Today, we will stay within the Synoptic Gospels and then over the next couple of days be in John for the rather long discourse of Christ’s final instructions to his disciples. I hope you are blessed in your reading.
