Mississippi is moving forward to legislatively ban trans-women from participating in women's sports.
My personal opinion is this is a rational move everyone should support. That isn't an anti-trans statement. I support trans-folks seeking happiness in any and every way they can - except when it harms others. Upending a level playing field in sports harms others.
That said, my opinion is irrelevant. But ironically, so is the view of the representatives of the people of Mississippi who voted on the bill. This is one of those of those issues that will ultimately be decided by the courts

as a transwoman... i think its NOT a good idea for states to make Sweeping decisions that realistically need to be made by a given coach in a given students and teams best interest take for example MACK BEGGS went 89 and 0 against natal females as a female to male.... but went 3 and 3 against other boys at his same development of pubescence... fair play shoulda been obvious.... i agree not letting students like mack beat up on other girls needs to be addressed but allowing post pubescent males in female sports shouldnt happen either.. this issue NEEDS to be a CASE BY CASE BASIS with things decided by a consortium of players, coach, league, and other teams within said league to determine the best placement to ensure FAIR PLAY for all children is met..... in mississippi as a state you might be talking fewer than 20 athletes in the state, how can it be this difficult to have each individual case handled within the league the given student would compete in ..... i just dont see it being that complicated . NOW id also say that POST PUBESCENT transitions YOUR STUCK because once a male puberty initiates the advantages are numerous and once a female puberty is started the disadvantages are also numerous to moving up to boys or down to girls...... there definetly should be a clause that natural puberty initiation of either gender determines the action of the league firstly and that a PRE PUBERTY blocker taking trans student should be determined as their therapy progresses and HRT initiates cross sex Hormones if that is what their dr determines to be best route of transition.... and VERY CLOSE monitoring needs to occur to assure no enhancement by elevated testosterone levels is induced
